Broadband Service

The VTA works to ensure that broadband services reach residences and business in all regions of the state.

Methods

We bring new resources and new strategies where progress has lagged. We support infrastructure needed in order for broadband service providers to serve areas where population density is not enough for commercial investment.

The VTA is not a retail service provider itself.

Wired and Wireless Service

Broadband service can be delivered to homes and businesses multiple ways:  through telephone lines, cable service, dedicated fiber optic lines and wireless technology.

The VTA is currently providing grant support to projects being developed by Comcast, FairPoint, Topsham Communications and VTel. They all serve Vermont Target Communities, which are identified locations where no broadband service exists.
